折り紙

OYO

December 11th, 2010

Let’s try something new: Origami. What better way to say Merry Christmas… excuse me, I meant Happy Holidays (psst, not really) then with a card that has a hand made crane on it. Lets get together one last time before the break and learn how to turn a flat sheet of paper into something beautiful. If you don’t think you’ll be any good, that’s okay. Paper wads make good ornaments, and it’s still a lot of fun. We’ll meet on Tuesday after school, and all you’ll need is some paper, maybe a few ideas of what you want to make and willingness to have fun. See you there.

Sincerely,

Alex P.

Paper Making

OYO

September 11th, 2010

So, this week we’ve decided to make paper. Next week we hope to get into book binding, a super neat activity OYO did last year. To make this time even better, we’re making our very own paper to use in our books, from recycled scraps. This would be really hard to do in our usual coffee shop, so we’re going to meet this Thursday after school at Zink Park. This is right off 31st and Peoria. Supplies are taken care of for this week, but new faces we invite is always great.

Hope to see you there,

Rachael

Summer’s over

OYO

August 30th, 2010

Dear knitters,

Well, we met last week and a few of the people that had come throughout the summer had shown up and we just talked about what our plan for the year was. It was very nice of them to keep pushing through and we congratulate them. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult to get new comers, word of mouth is probably going to be our best bet, so tell a friend—then bring them. Also might encourage more knitting if you’re knitting yourselves so if you can—bring something to knit. We have more bear patterns if you want to start a bear just ask for one, but you can make pretty much anything. If you don’t know how to make what you want, we can help you learn how. We’re going to try to make most arrangements through this blog so before you ask us what we’re doing this week try checking the blog. If you have a question make a comment, same goes for suggestions. We want to try and make everyone be heard, and frankly, texting one of us Wednesday  night doesn’t quite fit that. First thing you can comment about is whether or not you can make it on Thursdays. A lot of people seem to be unable to make it Thursdays, so suggest a day and we’ll see if enough people agree that that day would be better. That’s all for now really. Until we actually decide if what day we’re doing it on we will be meeting on Thursdays right after school. If you can’t find a ride make a comment and we’ll try to find you one. Hope the beginning of your school year is going well.

Sincerely,

Alex Prieto

P.S. Stallings, I hope you notice my use of em dashes.

P.P.S. I also hope I’m using them correctly.

Hello fellow knitters,

The project has been going very well with our new time arrangement and all. So, let’s continue to meet at Coffee House on Cherry Street this Thursday, that’s the eighth, at four o’clock.  See you there.

I’m late, I know

OYO

June 17th, 2010

Sorry guys, I’ve been busy. Today we’re meeting at Coffee House On Cherry Street at four. All you’ll need today is a camera and flower picking fingers. In February we will be making stationery so we’re going to pick flowers and press them now so that they’ll be good and squashed when February comes around. It’s also a day when we can just take a walk and get to know your other OYO/TSAS pals. The reason for the camera is a surprise, so don’t ask, but if you are going to ask ask Rachael. If you happen to be on the website and see this, spread the word. Again, sorry for being so tardy. Long live the Knitting Club.

Your Supreme Overlord,

Alex Prieto

P. S. Any type of camera will suffice. Film or digital. Color or black and white. It’s all good.

P. S. S. Kidding about the Supreme Overlord. Obviously Stallings is your Supreme Overlord.
